New Chief Instructor for NASA NorCal

The Northern California regional office announced the appointment of a new Chief Instructor. Starting in 2013, long-time NASA Instructor and group leader Steve Romine will take on the role of Chief Instructor.

Romine replaces Ralph Alexander. Alexander was a fixture in Nor Cal events, but lost his battle with cancer in October 2011. “We felt it would be good to wait a year to name a successor out of respect for Ralph,” commented Barry Hartzel, Nor Cal HPDE Director. “We can never hope to replace Ralph, but we have confidence that Steve will be a great asset to the upper management team for the HPDE program.”

Romine is also an engineer and musician. “I am so happy that Steve accepted this position,” said Jerry Kunzman, Nor Cal Regional Director. “I think Barry and Steve will make a great team to lead our instructional program.
